Eleven

This Christmas break had been Riley’s favorite in years. After the first weekend, Lakin had practically moved in. She was staying there nearly every night, and Riley was enjoying every minute of it. It had been a long time since Riley had opened herself up this deeply to a girlfriend. She was truly happy for the first time in years. In fact, most mornings, she was smiling before she even opened her eyes for the day.

Today was one of those mornings. Lakin was snuggled up against her back, one arm draped over her waist. She could feel Lakin’s breath on the back of her neck as she slept. Riley simply laid against the blonde and enjoyed her presence. She was going to savor every minute of the blonde that she could today.

Tonight, Lakin was going back to work. Oliver had called her personally yesterday afternoon to let her know that the club had opened back up. The news was a little bittersweet. Lakin was excited about the thought of getting back to the club, but she was also really enjoying her time off with Riley. A part of her knew that they couldn’t stay like this forever though.

As she finally stirred from dreamland, Lakin tightened her hold on Riley and pressed their bodies even closer together. She placed several soft kisses on the back of Riley’s neck and down her shoulder. “Good morning, beautiful.”

Riley let out a happy sigh. “Good morning. Did you sleep well?”

“Mmm... Yes, I did. I always do when I’m next to you.”

Riley rolled onto her back and pulled Lakin in for a kiss. They kissed languidly until the need for air was too great.

Resting her forehead against Riley’s, Lakin couldn’t keep the smile off her face. “I’m making you breakfast. Go take your shower, and I’ll have it ready when you get done.” After placing a kiss on the brunette’s forehead, she finally crawled out of bed. Riley watched her stroll over to the bathroom door and slip into a kimono. Lakin winked at her and left the bedroom.

Lakin was just taking the omelets out of the pan when Riley walked in. The tiny tank top and boy shorts kept her comfortable and showed off plenty of skin to tease Lakin. With a smile, Riley sat down on a barstool and watched Lakin plate the food. Sometimes it just struck her how much she was in love with Lakin.

The pair enjoyed breakfast and then decided to spend some time cuddling on the couch before Lakin had to leave. Riley had started watching more thrillers since they had started dating. She still jumped at the scary parts, but she knew she was always safe in Lakin’s arms. Knowing that she would be working late, Lakin tried to soak up all the snuggling she could get this morning.

As early afternoon turned into late afternoon, Lakin knew she needed to head home. She had to get ready for work, and she hoped to have a short nap. It was going to be a long first night back.
